PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Alexander Gus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alexander Gus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alexander White!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gus throws a hook but White avoids it easily.
Gus throws a hook to the side of White's head but White sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
White tries to clinch up.
White throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gus walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
White takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from White - that will leave a mark!
White shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gus eats them both and turns towards White to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Alexander Gus has been cut.
White tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gus swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Gus closes the distance and clinches.
White wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. White obliges.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
White lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
White is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Gus trying to control the position but instead, White has worked for underhooks and has pushed Gus into the ropes.

White tries to circle away but Gus has him pinned against the ropes.
White is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Gus is keeping busy.

Gus breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
White will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alexander Gus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gus has closed the distance and engaged White in a clinch.
White is trying to break the clinch but Gus is controlling him.
Our sources have told us that Gus has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
White throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Gus keeps control of White as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

White breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gus circles away from the clinch attempt
and Gus counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gus misses with a hook. White ducked under it nicely.

White tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gus swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gus steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from White. That one must have hurt.
A head kick misses from Gus.
Gus wants to clinch.
Gus pulls out of a head kick attempt.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


White throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Gus holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
White stalling in the clinch but Gus improves position.
White trying to stall but Gus improves his position.
White is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Gus has denied him.

Gus breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
White lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Gus fakes high and swings low for a body shot but White manages to avoid it.
Gus pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gus blocks a head kick by White.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gus tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
White is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Gus moves out of range of the body kick.
White connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

White forces Gus back against the ropes and clinches.

White pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

White gets in close and instigates a clinch.
White tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
White is looking to break free of the clinch but Gus has double underhooks.

Gus's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gus tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
White tries to clinch up.
White wants to clinch.

Gus drives through and clinches with White against the ropes.

White is looking to control Gus's arms but Gus gets an underhook and turns him. Now White has his back to the ropes.
With the two fighters working up against the ropes, White just misses with a elbow thrown towards Gus's brow.
Gus has White pressed against the ropes, preventing White from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
White lands a right hand.

Gus manages to break the clinch.
White doesn't manage to clinch there - Gus circles away.

Gus has taken the fight to the clinch.

White breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
White tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A jab from Gus misses.
White wants to counter with a clinch but Gus pushes him away.
Gus is looking to clinch but White is avoiding it.
White lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

That was a close round but Alexander Gus did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.

Gus throws a shot from downtown. White moves away and avoids it.
Gus tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

White throws out a head kick that Gus doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Gus crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Gus's eyes and has decided to let it go on!
Gus connects with a single shot there.
White is looking to clinch.
Gus fails in his attempt to clinch.
Gus is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Gus swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
White throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
White steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Gus.
Crack! A monster head kick from White and Gus falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by White!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 4, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Alexander White!
