Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Haller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Key Peele! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Haller lands a nice hook to Peele's body. Peele takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Peele looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Haller thuds a left hand into Peele's body. Peele tries to close the distance and clinch but Haller swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Peele throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Haller counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Haller definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Peele rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Haller moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Nice uppercut there from Haller. Peele throws a looping overhand right but Haller ducks down to avoid it. Haller connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Peele throws a jab but it's blocked by Haller. Haller seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Haller throws out a powerful jab. Peele misses the jab. Haller is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Peele. Haller throws the left hand but Peele avoids the punch easily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Haller throws out a powerful jab. Haller lands a nice shot that snaps Peele's head back.
Haller lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Peele throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Haller lands with a hook. Peele tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Peele throws a right hand that misses
and Haller cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Peele misses with an uppercut
and Haller counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Peele is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round. Haller misses with a straight right. Haller throws a right hand that misses
and Peele counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Haller connects with a single shot there. Peele is still on wobbly legs! Can Haller finish him? Peele leaves his chin hanging out and Haller seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Peele crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). David Haller! David Haller opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
