The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva takes the fight into the clinch.

Bon Jovi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bon Jovi off to one side.
Bon Jovi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Bon Jovi wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Silva has him pressed against the cage.
Silva jumps guard but Bon Jovi stands there with Silva around his waist. Silva gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bon Jovi tries to roll over but Silva keeps him under control.

Silva is keen to just control but Bon Jovi is a slippery customer.
Silva passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bon Jovi!
Silva wants to finish this one by submission but Bon Jovi is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Silva.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Bon Jovi shows good takedown defense.

Silva drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bon Jovi gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Silva drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bon Jovi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Silva has Bon Jovi in his guard.

and Silva counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Silva goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Bon Jovi is on top in guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bon Jovi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

and Bon Jovi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silva won't be happy with that.
Silva tries to bench press Bon Jovi off him but Bon Jovi keeps the position.
Silva gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Bon Jovi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Silva might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Scott Silva.
Well Bon Jovi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
