Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marco Vermeer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob Cook told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marco Vermeer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bob Cook! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cook throws a lazy right hand but Vermeer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Cook takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Vermeer does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Vermeer goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Vermeer tries to land a leg kick but Cook saw it coming and moves away.
Cook looks like he wants to counter punch here. A telegraphed right hand from Cook misses the target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vermeer throws a sloppy head kick and Cook moves out of range easily. A head kick misses from Vermeer. Cook wants to counter the offense by Vermeer and move into the clinch position. Cook blocks a leg kick. Cook scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
It looks like Marco Vermeer has been cut.

Vermeer misses with a leg kick and Cook counters with an inside leg kick. Marco Vermeer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vermeer throws a leg kick that is checked and Cook counters with a good low kick that Vermeer was not able to check. Vermeer tries to work over Cook's front leg with a kick but Cook checks it. Vermeer tries to keep at a distance but Cook has taken the fight into the clinch. Vermeer with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Cook creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Cook gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Cook is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cook misses with an elbow strike.

Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Cook is defending well for now. Cook throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Jeez, Marco Vermeer's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
