The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Iel throws a body shot but no joy.
Manley misses with a wild combination.
Iel avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Iel digs a good hook to Manley's body.
Iel lands a head shot.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Iel swings wildly with an uppercut but Manley uses good head movement to avoid it.

Iel has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Manley is trying to keep an underhook but Iel manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Iel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Manley swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Manley holds on and takes a little breather.

Iel has his foot on Manley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Manley works his way back into a safe position though.

Iel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Iel is taking a breather. Manley says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Iel seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Manley for as long as he can get away with.
Manley is staying active underneath Iel, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Iel looks to land a strike but Manley avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Manley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Iel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Manley's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Bagel Iel will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Iel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Manley let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Chet Manley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Manley has taken the fight to the clinch.

Iel is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Manley can't fight it off and eventually Iel manages to take the fight to the floor. Manley looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Iel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Iel is really struggling to control Manley but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Manley clinches up with Iel and pushes him back against the cage.
Iel tries to pull guard but Manley holds him up against the cage and eventually Iel drops back down to his feet.
Iel is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Manley gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Manley tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Manley misses with the head strike.
Iel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Manley walks away with a smile on his face. Iel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Manley tries to close the distance and clinch but Iel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Iel shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Manley pinned against the cage. Manley gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Manley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Iel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Iel has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Manley finds it's way round the side to connect with Iel's head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
