Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Spencer Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Edgar Gonzalez!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez tries to clinch up.

Gonzalez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rivera on his heels. He'll look to pass Rivera's guard now, I'm sure.
Gonzalez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Rivera has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gonzalez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rivera is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Gonzalez is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gonzalez trying to control but Rivera is working from the bottom.
Rivera keeping full guard, as Gonzalez tries to pass.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rivera throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Gonzalez looking to pass the guard.
Rivera really is a fat lump.
Gonzalez trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gonzalez controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rivera utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gonzalez wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Gonzalez trying to control but Rivera is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rivera shoots in for a takedown but Gonzalez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Sloppy strikes from Gonzalez. Those never looked like landing.
Gonzalez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rivera.
Rivera tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gonzalez defends well and Rivera ends up having to push Gonzalez into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Spencer Rivera. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gonzalez has closed the distance and engaged Rivera in a clinch.

Gonzalez turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gonzalez manages to end up in side control.

Gonzalez in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Rivera is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
