Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Lothario! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lothario is fending him off so far but Diaz persists. Nope, Lothario circles away and we're back to standing. Lothario lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Lothario clinches up against the ropes. Diaz misses with a body punch.
Lothario manages to break the clinch.
Lothario fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Diaz, pushing him back against the ropes. Lothario is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the ropes enables Diaz to keep the fight standing. Lothario tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Diaz smiles and moves away.
Diaz scores with the left hand. Lothario knows he should have avoided that one. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Lothario has eaten all the pies! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lothario shoots in but no luck this time. Diaz wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Joey Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Lothario.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lothario dives in for a single leg takedown but Diaz sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes. A head kick by Lothario misses and Diaz counters with a lovely straight right hand! Diaz gets caught napping as Lothario dives in and scores a takedown. Diaz manages to retain guard. Lothario stopping the sweep attempt from Diaz. Diaz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lothario trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Lothario missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Diaz controls Lothario momentarily but Lothario frees himself. Diaz wants to sweep but no luck. Lothario is in close to Diaz's body, working some short punches and elbows. Lothario controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz is trying to control the position but Lothario postures up. Lothario is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Diaz is trying to control the position but Lothario postures up. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Diaz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lothario is aware though and is defending well. Diaz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lothario won't allow Diaz to sweep him here. Diaz is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Forever Free Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Lothario postures up and lands a big shot to Diaz's brow. Diaz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lothario's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Diaz postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lothario is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Diaz, into his guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Diaz is on top in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lothario throws his legs up looking for a submission but Diaz uses it to pass to side control.
Lothario is trying to improve his position. Diaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lothario keeps working. Lothario is looking for a sweep. Diaz stands up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz wants to clinch. Lothario doesn't succeed with the takedown and Diaz counters with a stiff right hand. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Diaz fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Lothario tries for a takedown but Diaz circles away easily and Diaz counters with a nice uppercut. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joey Diaz dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Diaz cracks Lothario with an open hand slap. Diaz with a jab. Diaz tries to clinch up. Lothario pushes Diaz up against the ropes in a clinch. Lothario can't get the takedown.
Diaz is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Lothario keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Diaz's efforts to push away. Lothario jumps guard but Diaz stands there with Lothario around his waist. Lothario gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lothario wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Diaz is working hard here to advance position. Diaz can't do much from the bottom here. Lothario is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Diaz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Lothario throws a strike aimed at the side of Diaz's head but Diaz avoids it well. Diaz is not content to let Lothario control the position. Lothario working away. Lothario tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Diaz gets back to half guard. Diaz makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Diaz. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Diaz is on top in guard.
Lothario keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully. Lothario looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Diaz puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Diaz wants to take a breather but Lothario is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lothario tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Diaz manages to move to mount!
Lothario is trying to escape the mount.
Diaz wants to control but Lothario has made it back to half guard. Nice work. Lothario is trying to stand up here but Diaz is controlling him well. Lothario looking for a kimura from the bottom but Diaz passes into side control! The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Diaz working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz wants to control but Lothario is keeping him busy. Diaz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lothario is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Diaz has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Lothario misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lothario has managed to clinch.

That was a close second round but I would say that Joey Diaz will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Diaz lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Diaz circles away from the clinch attempt and Diaz counters with a three punch combo that has Lothario backing up. Lothario nods at Diaz to acknowledge the strikes. Lothario tries to land a leg kick but Diaz saw it coming and moves away.
It looked like Diaz was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lothario misses with a takedown letting Diaz counter with a right hand. Lothario tries to clinch but fails miserably and Diaz counters with a straight right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lothario misses with a body kick. Diaz appears to be looking for a big counter. Lothario fails in his attempt to clinch. Lothario throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Diaz here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Lothario closes the distance but Diaz moves to the side enabling Diaz to counter with a crisp jab. Lothario throws a wild hook but Diaz just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Lothario gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the ropes! The referee jumps in - Diaz raises his hands in celebration and walks away!
