Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, DJ Frank! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Mahcock! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksandr Martynov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mahcock on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Mahcock avoids the head kick by Frank.
Good standup being displayed there by Frank as he connects with a hook.
It looks like Phil Mahcock has been cut. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Mahcock has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. A jab from Frank misses. A little jabbing left from Mahcock on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Mahcock misses with a series of wild punches.
An attempted straight right counter from Frank misses the target. Mahcock bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Frank throws a sloppy head kick and Mahcock moves out of range easily. As Frank backs off Mahcock throws a huge counter combo but Frank manages to avoid it all. Frank listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Mahcock looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Mahcock just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromFrank. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Frank slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Frank throws a lazy head kick and Mahcock counters with a series of strikes. Frank will be more careful next time no doubt. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! An inside leg kick from Frank misses. Mahcock instigates a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Frank has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Mahcock has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Frank regains guard immediately. Mahcock is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Frank keeping full guard, as Mahcock tries to pass. Mahcock sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mahcock working some strikes from top position. Mahcock passes Frank's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Mahcock seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Mahcock passes to side control. Mahcock tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mahcock remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Mahcock has hold of Frank's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Frank seems comfortable defending it but Mahcock has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Frank is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Frank is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Mahcock couldn't care less - he's delighted!
