Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wilber Wyatt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lloyd Christmas! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wyatt lands a leg kick that knocks Christmas off balance momentarily. Wyatt pushes Christmas up against the cage in a clinch. Wyatt breaks from the clinch.
Christmas closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Christmas lands in his opponent's guard. Wyatt is looking to stand up but Christmas isn't so interested in that idea. Christmas preventing the sweep. Wyatt will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Christmas pushes down on Wyatt's leg and manages to get into half guard. Christmas is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wyatt sees it coming and defends easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Christmas seems to be working for a kimura but Wyatt defends the submission attempt. That's one minute gone in the round. Christmas decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Christmas drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Christmas stops Wyatt from standing up. Wyatt throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Christmas passes Wyatt's left leg - he's now in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wyatt looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Christmas trying to control the action but Wyatt is working from the bottom. Christmas sitting and controlling from the half guard. Wyatt is looking to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Christmas is working for a submission of some sort.
Christmas wants to control but Wyatt is keeping him busy. Christmas missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Christmas is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wyatt is just riding it out for now. Christmas eventually gives up the hold. Wyatt wants to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wyatt makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Wyatt. Christmas stands and steps away. Wyatt gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Wyatt lands a jab to Christmas's midsection. Wyatt closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Christmas wants the takedown. Wyatt is fighting it off but Christmas persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Wyatt's guard against the cage. Christmas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Wyatt working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Christmas has passed into half guard!

Christmas seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Christmas is looking for a kimura but Wyatt is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Christmas to get the leverage. Wyatt wants to get back to full guard. Christmas is looking for a kimura here.
Wyatt is looking to escape. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Christmas wants to take a breather but Wyatt is having none of it. Wyatt moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lloyd Christmas dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
The fighters circling - Christmas throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Wyatt has managed to clinch.
Wyatt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Christmas shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Wyatt napping and manages to drive through into side control! Christmas postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Christmas advances to full mount. Christmas stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Christmas scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Christmas trying to control the action but Wyatt is working from the bottom. Wyatt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Christmas on the ground. Wyatt wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Christmas cracks Wyatt with a big elbow.

Christmas decides to stand back up. Wyatt throws a series of punches but Christmas avoids them all with ease. Wyatt gets tackled into the cage by Christmas. Christmas maintains the clinch. Christmas drags the fight down to the ground.
Christmas has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Christmas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wyatt is aware though and is defending well.

Wyatt is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Wyatt seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Christmas for as long as he can get away with. Wyatt trying to control but Christmas is working from the bottom. Christmas trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Wyatt engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Christmas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Lloyd Christmas has got the better of the ground game so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Christmas closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wyatt quickly recovers to half guard. Wyatt blocking the ground and pound attempt from Christmas. Christmas prevents Wyatt from improving his position. Wyatt pushes Christmas off, looking to escape but Christmas dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Wyatt is forced to tap! The fight is over!
