Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mark Apple (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guilhaume Prevot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guilhaume Prevot is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Apple!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Guilhaume Prevot!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Prevot drives through with a takedown into Apple's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Apple is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Apple is working an open guard so Prevot takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Apple shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Prevot's guard.
Prevot is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Apple presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Prevot gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Prevot manages to break the clinch.
Prevot lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Apple backs up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Let's hope that Prevot has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Prevot decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Apple knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Prevot on the ground.
Prevot stands and throws Apple's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Prevot's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Prevot chips away with some ground and pound.
Prevot slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Prevot is in close to Apple's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Prevot pushes down on Apple's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Apple tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Prevot manages to move to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Prevot gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Prevot clinches up with Apple and pushes him back against the cage.
Prevot is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Apple can't fight it off and eventually Prevot manages to take the fight to the floor. Apple looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Prevot lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Prevot slips nicely into half guard.
Prevot decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Prevot manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The fighters are working up against the cage. Prevot manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Apple decides to pull guard.
Prevot decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Prevot takes the fight into the clinch.
Prevot escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Prevot scores with a hook to the body. Apple takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Apple shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Apple was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Prevot sneaks out the side door and pushes Apple away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Apple looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Prevot throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Apple tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Prevot is in Apple's guard.
Apple is wriggling around but Prevot manages to pass to half guard.
Apple is trying to maintain the position but Prevot is very close to passing his half guard.
Prevot landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Prevot in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Apple tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Prevot!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Guilhaume Prevot!
After winning the bout, Guilhaume Prevot thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
