Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cyril Wilkinson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sham King! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilkinson dives in and grabs King's left leg, looking for a takedown. King pushes down on Wilkinson's head and hops out. King lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Wilkinson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and King counters with a two punch combo. A bone on bone clash there as King blocks the leg kick.
Wilkinson takes the fight into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wilkinson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. King gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wilkinson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilkinson throws a big right hand that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilkinson prevents King from getting back to his feet. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Wilkinson really is a fat lump. King is working an open guard so Wilkinson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. King looks winded!

Wilkinson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Wilkinson shoots in but King avoids the takedown attempt easily. King is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cyril Wilkinson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wilkinson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. King stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and King wants it to stay on the feet. King throws a counter combo. Wilkinson fails to land the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wilkinson tries to close the distance and clinch up but King swats him away and circles back towards the center. A combination from Wilkinson does no damage. Despite the aggression on King's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. King has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Wilkinson is landing a low percentage of strikes. Wilkinson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. King quickly recovers to half guard. Wilkinson decides to stand and escape the position. Cyril Wilkinson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wilkinson with a poor takedown and King counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Wilkinson tries to clinch up and King counters with a three punch combo that has Wilkinson backing up. Wilkinson nods at King to acknowledge the strikes. Wilkinson connects with a nice short shot to King's temple. Wilkinson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Wilkinson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and King defends it well. Wilkinson scores with a couple of good hammerfists. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Wilkinson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but King sees it coming and defends easily.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. A combination from Wilkinson does no damage. As Wilkinson backs off King throws a huge counter combo but Wilkinson manages to avoid it all. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wilkinson is defended easily by King. King is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
