Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Hyde! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Twardy Orzech! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Orzech tries to close the distance and clinch but Hyde swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Orzech is defended easily by Hyde. Hyde could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Orzech is looking to clinch. Hyde keeps the fight on the outside. Orzech tries to close the distance and clinch but Hyde swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Orzech looking to score a takedown here. Hyde is defending well but Orzech drives through and ends up in Hyde's guard. Orzech working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hyde holds on and takes a little breather. Hyde trying to keep a closed guard but Orzech is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Orzech missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Hyde is looking for a triangle but Orzech pushes his legs off easily.
Orzech must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hyde thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Orzech throws a strike but Hyde rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Hyde trying to control the position from guard on top but Orzech is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hyde scoring with punches to the head and body. Hyde might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Hyde postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hyde is looking to work some ground and pound but Orzech has wrist control. Hyde postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Orzech is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hyde, into his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Orzech preventing the sweep. Orzech postures up and lands a big shot to Hyde's brow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hyde is trying to keep Orzech in close.
Orzech landing with the ground and pound. Orzech stands and steps away. Hyde gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Orzech shoots in but Hyde avoids the takedown attempt easily. Twardy Orzech seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hyde is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Orzech.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Orzech dives in and grabs Hyde's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hyde pushes down on Orzech's head and hops out. Ray Hyde has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Twardy Orzech. Orzech closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Orzech throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Hyde is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Orzech is defending well. Hyde prevents the takedown attempt.
Orzech gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
It looks like Ray Hyde has been cut. Stalling in the clinch from Orzech.
Orzech tries to land knees in the clinch but Hyde avoids the damage to the body. Orzech taking a breather. Hyde tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Orzech just stands there and leans against the cage. Orzech has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hyde uses from the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hyde throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Orzech works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hyde postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hyde is looking to work some ground and pound but Orzech has wrist control. Orzech is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Orzech is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hyde postures up in Orzech's guard and throws a big left but Orzech blocks it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hyde with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Hyde wants to control from the top but Orzech keeps moving. Orzech wants to stand but Hyde is controlling the position. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Twardy Orzech dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ray Hyde's cut. That's time! Hyde's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hyde gets tackled into the cage by Orzech. Orzech maintains the clinch. Orzech's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Orzech ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Orzech no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Twardy Orzech has got the better of the ground game so far. Hyde throws a big right hand that misses. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hyde accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hyde working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hyde has gone for a leg lock! Orzech slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hyde's guard. Orzech keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hyde's head.

Hyde is rocked! Orzech drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Orzech jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Orzech wanted to stand there but Hyde had control of the position. Orzech is looking to work some ground and pound but Hyde has wrist control. Orzech makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Oh Hyde is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Orzech arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Hyde's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
