Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James LaBrie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert De Noteboom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De Noteboom is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Erika - I Don't Know. Robert De Noteboom told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James LaBrie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
42 - 29 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert De Noteboom! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! LaBrie throws a series of punches but De Noteboom moves out of range. LaBrie scores with a shot to the body.
LaBrie lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. De Noteboom tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. LaBrie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. De Noteboom gets in close and instigates a clinch. De Noteboom blocks a body shot from LaBrie. LaBrie misses with a hook from the clinch. De Noteboom swings wildly with an uppercut but LaBrie uses good head movement to avoid it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. De Noteboom tries to stall but LaBrie uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
De Noteboom throws a punch but it's blocked by LaBrie. De Noteboom lands with a left to the head. LaBrie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. LaBrie scores with a jab.

and LaBrie counters with a left to the body. De Noteboom moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. De Noteboom takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. De Noteboom tries to move into range but LaBrie moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. LaBrie loads up on a big right hand but De Noteboom slips the punch. De Noteboom is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Robert De Noteboom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. LaBrie tries to bum rush De Noteboom with a series of wild strikes but De Noteboom uses good footwork to avoid the assault. De Noteboom on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. LaBrie avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A big left from LaBrie misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. LaBrie connects with a jab. De Noteboom darts in and clinches LaBrie up against the cage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. De Noteboom misses with some punches.

LaBrie lands a left hand that snaps the head of De Noteboom backwards. De Noteboom makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. LaBrie misses with the head strike.
De Noteboom's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! LaBrie lands with a short punch from the clinch.
De Noteboom has LaBrie pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. LaBrie manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. LaBrie prevents the takedown attempt.

James LaBrie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert De Noteboom. De Noteboom lands with a right to the head. LaBrie fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De Noteboom turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! LaBrie dodges the ground and pound from De Noteboom. LaBrie wants to control but De Noteboom postures up. The ground and pound from De Noteboom seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. De Noteboom fails to land a wild elbow strike.
LaBrie is looking to reverse the position. De Noteboom working the ground and pound from side control. De Noteboom throwing shots but missing, from side control. De Noteboom creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. LaBrie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but De Noteboom wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. De Noteboom has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. LaBrie is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked De Noteboom off and has taken his back! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! De Noteboom is trying to break free.
LaBrie has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of De Noteboom's body.

De Noteboom is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. LaBrie doesn't have the hooks in and De Noteboom manages to turn into his guard.
LaBrie pulls De Noteboom in to control the position. LaBrie utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that James LaBrie will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

That's one minute gone in the round. LaBrie ducks down and throws a hook to the body but De Noteboom moves away. LaBrie is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that De Noteboom can do to turn this around? LaBrie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
De Noteboom forces LaBrie back against the cage and clinches. De Noteboom is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. LaBrie lands a shoulder strike. De Noteboom is looking for a takedown up against the cage. LaBrie gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. De Noteboom avoiding damage.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. LaBrie gets through De Noteboom's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Robert De Noteboom seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. De Noteboom goes for a takedown in the clinch but LaBrie prevents it.
James LaBrie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert De Noteboom. De Noteboom tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. LaBrie blocks a punch to the side of the head.

De Noteboom has picked LaBrie up - he's going for a ride! De Noteboom dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! De Noteboom looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks LaBrie with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. LaBrie controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. De Noteboom not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. De Noteboom wants to lay and pray for a moment but LaBrie keeps working. Robert De Noteboom has got the better of the ground game so far. De Noteboom misses with a head shot. LaBrie uses the momentum to regain guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as LaBrie holds on and takes a little breather.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De Noteboom seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. LaBrie managing to control the position. LaBrie tries to land a sweep but no joy. LaBrie pulls De Noteboom in to control the position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as De Noteboom accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. LaBrie lands with a shot to the body. De Noteboom keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
LaBrie drops his hands momentarily and De Noteboom takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. De Noteboom misses with a looping right. De Noteboom takes a body punch but keeps moving. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. De Noteboom throws an ugly left hook that misses
and LaBrie counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. De Noteboom throws a right hand that misses

James LaBrie dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Robert De Noteboom has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. LaBrie is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. De Noteboom is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. De Noteboom wants to take a breather but LaBrie is having none of it. LaBrie is trying to get back to full guard. De Noteboom winds up and cracks LaBrie with a swinging punch to the side of the head. LaBrie is controlling De Noteboom's position as best he can from this difficult position. De Noteboom throwing shots but LaBrie is blocking nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De Noteboom not landing any meaningful shots this time. LaBrie regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from De Noteboom. De Noteboom throwing strikes from guard but LaBrie blocks nicely. James LaBrie is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. De Noteboom with a nice head shot there. LaBrie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. De Noteboom postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. De Noteboom lands a couple of decent looking shots. De Noteboom postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. De Noteboom landing with the ground and pound. LaBrie looking for a sweep. Not yet LaBrie, not yet. De Noteboom loads up on a big left hand. LaBrie felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - De Noteboom looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! LaBrie can't hide his disappointment, as De Noteboom celebrates the victory.
