Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ode Jokinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
28 - 18 - 4, fighting out of London, Ode Jokinen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bruce Banner! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Banner moves out of range of the strikes. Jokinen throws a hook but Banner avoids it easily. Banner moves into the clinch successfully.
The referee calls for Jokinen to work.
Banner throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Jokinen blocks it with crossed arms. We've been informed that Banner has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Banner tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Jokinen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Jokinen throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Banner holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Banner gets underhooks to prevent Jokinen's takedown attempt.
A nice left hand lands by Jokinen.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Jokinen stalling.
Jokinen blocks an elbow strike. Jokinen is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A knee to the head by Banner.

A head punch on the inside from Jokinen fails to land. Jokinen lands a right hand. Jokinen being controlled against the cage. Jokinen blocks an elbow strike.

Jokinen pulls guard effortlessly. Jokinen is trying to keep Banner in close.
Jokinen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Banner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Banner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Banner drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Banner jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Banner is looking to stand up but Jokinen won't let him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jokinen is on top in guard.
Banner is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jokinen is aware though and is defending well. Banner has an active guard here but Jokinen has managed to pass into half guard.
Jokinen winds up and cracks Banner with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jokinen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Banner moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Jokinen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jokinen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Jokinen trying to control but Banner is working from the bottom. Banner is looking to stand up but Jokinen isn't so interested in that idea. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Jokinen with a nice head shot there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Banner keeping moving, preventing Jokinen from controlling successfully. Jokinen stopping the sweep attempt from Banner. Banner working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jokinen. Banner looking to control but Jokinen passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Banner won't allow Jokinen to pass to mount. Banner looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Jokinen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Banner keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Banner actively working from the bottom here. Jokinen scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Banner taking some punishment here, with Jokinen in his half guard. Jokinen wants to free his trapped foot but Banner is holding on for dear life with his legs. Jokinen trying to control from half guard but Banner is working away. Jokinen is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Banner looking for submissions off his back. Banner wants to control but Jokinen is keeping busy.

Ode Jokinen dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Jokinen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Banner trying to control but Jokinen is working from the bottom. Banner wants to get up but he can't break Jokinen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Ode Jokinen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jokinen keeping moving, preventing Banner from controlling successfully. Banner drops back looking for a leg! Jokinen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jokinen manages to kick Banner off! Banner jumps back into Jokinen's guard.

No, Banner has managed to get both his arms back between Jokinen's legs - danger averted. Banner pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jokinen is keeping the position for now. Jokinen wants to sweep but no luck. Banner slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Banner wants to clinch up but Jokinen keeps it at a distance. Jokinen lands with a shot to the body. Banner wants to clinch up but Jokinen keeps it at a distance. Jokinen blocks a head kick by Banner.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jokinen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Jokinen throws a quick inside leg kick. Banner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jokinen paws at him with a jab and circles away. Jokinen feints and then cracks Banner's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Banner down. Jokinen misses with an uppercut. A countering left hand to the body from Banner misses. Banner tries to close the distance and clinch but Jokinen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Decent striking displayed by Jokinen there. Jokinen moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Jokinen shoots in and drives through. Banner sprawls well. This has been an exciting period of action! Jokinen fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Banner on the side of the head. Banner doesn't manage to clinch there - Jokinen circles away.

I was talking to Jokinen's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Banner throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Jokinen is trying to maintain a safe position but Banner gets an underhook and turns Jokinen into the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ode Jokinen dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Banner walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Banner throws out a loose jab but Jokinen uses good head movement to avoid it. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Banner throws an overhand right that lands on Jokinen's shoulder, as Jokinen tries to avoid the shot. Banner takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Nice cross by Jokinen. Banner has Jokinen up against the cage in a clinch.

Banner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Jokinen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Banner manages to get himself to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Banner on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Jokinen moves into full mount! Jokinen unloading with bombs! Jokinen prevents Banner from getting the reversal. Jokinen is in the full mount, landing strikes. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Jokinen cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Banner is rocked! Jokinen avoids the attempt from Banner to control. Banner is still in real trouble! Can Jokinen finish him? Banner tries to reverse the position but Jokinen maintains control. Banner seems to have recovered his senses. Jokinen with a couple of short strikes. Jokinen is landing with some decent strikes but Banner is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Bruce Banner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Banner tries to reverse the position but Jokinen maintains control. Banner tries to hold on but Jokinen postures up. Jokinen wants to control the pace but Banner is squirming around nicely. Banner is desperately trying to improve his position but Jokinen has a good base and remains in mount. Jokinen working Banner over with strikes here. Jokinen breaks from Banner's wrist control and lands an elbow. Banner is squirming around, avoiding Jokinen's attempts to control the action. Banner keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Ode Jokinen showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jokinen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
