Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Magnus Fjeld!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Larisa Solomina!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fjeld throws a head kick that misses.

Solomina looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Solomina throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Fjeld's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Fjeld throws a right hand that Solomina ducks under and follows up with a left that Solomina also avoids with ease.
Fjeld backing away here, and Solomina unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Fjeld swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Solomina.
Solomina fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Solomina takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Larisa Solomina has been cut.

Magnus Fjeld seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fjeld breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fjeld shoots for a double leg takedown but Solomina sprawls well. He's pushed Fjeld's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Solomina looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fjeld buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Solomina fails in his attempt to clinch.
Solomina blocks a head kick by Fjeld.
And Solomina tries to counter it with a takedown but Fjeld pushes his down on his head and steps out.
No joy there for Fjeld, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Solomina looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fjeld is fending him off so far but Solomina persists. Nope, Fjeld circles away and we're back to standing.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Solomina.
A little feinted left hand from Fjeld on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Fjeld throws a big counter combination but Solomina scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Fjeld on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Fjeld tries to get out of the position.

The fighters are pressed against the ropes, as the pace of the fight slows.

Fjeld is pressed up against the ropes. Solomina has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Fjeld down to the mat. Fjeld avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Magnus Fjeld has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Larisa Solomina.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Solomina drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Fjeld breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Solomina feints a jab promting Fjeld to slip. Solomina then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Fjeld slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Solomina goes for a double leg but Fjeld avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Fjeld continues to drive forward.
Fjeld is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Solomina.
Fjeld lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Fjeld lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Solomina on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Solomina is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fjeld sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Fjeld changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Solomina tries to avoid it but Fjeld manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Solomina to the ground. Solomina escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
