Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ippo Makunouchi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Klaus Klingler!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klingler drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Klingler wants to stand but Makunouchi is controlling his posture from full guard.
Makunouchi wants to stand and escape but Klingler is having none of it.
Klingler advances position into side control!
Klingler decides to stand back up. Klingler steps back and let's Makunouchi get back to his feet.
Makunouchi cracks Klingler with a right hand to the side of the head.
It looks like Klaus Klingler has been cut.
Klingler shoots in looking for a takedown. Makunouchi tries to sprawl out of it but Klingler keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Makunouchi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Klingler.
Klingler throws a series of punches but Makunouchi moves out of range.
Klingler throws a head kick but Makunouchi moves out of range.
Klingler avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Makunouchi cracks Klingler with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Makunouchi fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Klingler out cold! Brutal finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Ippo Makunouchi!
