Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Buck Steed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zangief Lamochenko!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jorge Garcia and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lamochenko throws a lazy right hand but Steed sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Steed sizes up Lamochenko with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Steed digs a good body shot into Lamochenko's ribs.
The fighters circle momentarily. Lamochenko darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
A shot to the liver by Steed. Beautiful body shot.
Steed misses with a double jab.
Lamochenko appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Steed tests Lamochenko's chin there with a solid looking shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lamochenko walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Steed lands with a nice combination. Lamochenko backs away looking to recover.
Steed throws out a loose jab but Lamochenko uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've been informed that Lamochenko has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Steed slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Lamochenko looks to land a combination but Steed avoids it well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Steed throws a hook to the side of Lamochenko's head but Lamochenko sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Steed here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Steed tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lamochenko was well out of range. Poor timing from Steed.

Steed clobbers Lamochenko with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Lamochenko misses with a few strikes there.

Steed lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

I was talking to Steed's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Oooooh!!! Steed has knocked Lamochenko down with a huge combo! Steed steps away and waves a wobbly Lamochenko back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Buck Steed is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Steed has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
