PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dmitry Putin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tanishi Toshiyuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Toshiyuki is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Fuck you. On his way into the cage it seems that Dmitry Putin has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Dmitry Putin seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dmitry Putin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tanishi Toshiyuki!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Toshiyuki darts in and clinches Putin up against the cage.
Putin is trying to drag Toshiyuki to the mat but Toshiyuki just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Toshiyuki lands a knee to the head.
Putin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Toshiyuki smiles and moves away.
Putin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Toshiyuki counters with a straight right hand.
Putin throws a lazy head kick

and Toshiyuki holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Toshiyuki is struggling to control the position.
Toshiyuki tries to circle away but Putin has him pinned against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Putin is trying to push Toshiyuki away but Toshiyuki has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Putin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Toshiyuki pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dmitry Putin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Toshiyuki closes the distance and pushes Putin back into the cage.
Putin can't break the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Putin has Toshiyuki pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Toshiyuki manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Toshiyuki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Putin is looking to slow Toshiyuki down with leg kicks.
Toshiyuki walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Putin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Toshiyuki lands with a shot to the body.
A combination from Putin does no damage.
Toshiyuki throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Putin.
Toshiyuki misses with an attempted mid kick.
Putin throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Toshiyuki counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Putin wants to get back to his feet but Toshiyuki passes into half guard.

Putin controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Putin is trying to stand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Putin is looking for a sweep. Toshiyuki is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Toshiyuki working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Toshiyuki blocks the strikes from Putin.
Putin tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Toshiyuki manages to move to mount!
Toshiyuki lands with some strikes.
Toshiyuki content just to control the position here.
Putin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Putin tries to get out of the position.
Putin is desperately trying to improve his position but Toshiyuki has a good base and remains in mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Toshiyuki putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Toshiyuki prevents Putin from getting the reversal.
Putin wants to control but Toshiyuki is having none of it.
Toshiyuki sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Toshiyuki is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Putin can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Toshiyuki lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Putin tries to hold on but Toshiyuki pushes him away.
Putin is bucking up trying to escape but Toshiyuki cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Toshiyuki lands a big elbow.
Toshiyuki scoring with strikes but Putin is staying in there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Toshiyuki fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Putin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Putin is in a horrible position here. Toshiyuki smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


Putin is rocked!
Putin has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Putin wants to control but Toshiyuki is having none of it.
Oh Putin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Toshiyuki lands a couple of good shots and Putin has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Toshiyuki cracks Putin with a big right hand from the back mount! Putin immediately covers up and the referee dives in to save him under a barrage of more strikes! Toshiyuki takes this one by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tanishi Toshiyuki!
Tanishi Toshiyuki spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
