Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Samuel Cooke and Fred Jivinen. Cooke kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Harm's Way - Warriors Will Reign. Jivinen has chosen SpaceGhostPurrp - Make Her Say (Dark R&B) (IntoXXXicated) as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 0 losses; Samuel Cooke! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 1 losses; Fred Jivinen! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Cooke gets in close and instigates a clinch. Cooke has Jivinen pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cooke pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Jivinen tumbling to the mat - Cooke dives into Jivinen's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cooke passes Jivinen's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Jivinen is looking to improve his position.

Cooke has his hands clasped together around Jivinen's back. He's all about the action. Cooke has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Cooke is looking to control Jivinen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cooke avoid being mounted?
That's six minutes gone in the round. Cooke actively working from the bottom here. Cooke is doing well to control the position and prevent Jivinen from advancing to side control. Cooke is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jivinen pulls his head out easily. Cooke is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jivinen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jivinen's back! That's seven minutes gone in the round. Cooke slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Jivinen defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Cooke's arms. Cooke patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Jivinen is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Cooke gets his way!
Cooke working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Jivinen breaks Cooke's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Cooke is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Cooke seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jivinen for as long as he can get away with. Jivinen is trying to get back to full guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cooke takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Cooke takes the fight on points by 8 to 7. Samuel Cooke was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed. |
