The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bitnis fails to land with a series of punches.
Bitnis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aerts tries to avoid it but Bitnis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aerts to the ground. Aerts escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Aerts tries to clinch but Bitnis moves out of range. Aerts wants to clinch up but Bitnis keeps it at a distance. Bitnis's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Bitnis duly obliges. Aerts is looking to clinch but Bitnis is avoiding it.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Bitnis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Bitnis passes into half guard. John Bitnis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Bitnis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Dean Aerts is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Bitnis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
