Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ira Vance!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ikaika Ka Nui!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ka Nui closes the distance and clinches.
Vance jumps guard.
Ka Nui stopping the sweep attempt from Vance.
Ka Nui trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ka Nui sitting in guard here, content to control.
Ka Nui wants to pass the guard but Vance is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ka Nui is looking to stand up but Vance won't let him.
Ka Nui advances position into side control!
Vance tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ka Nui wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ka Nui is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vance is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Vance is looking for a sweep.
Vance stops Ka Nui from passing to mount.
Ka Nui controlling from side mount.
Ka Nui tries to stand but Vance is controlling his head.
Vance is trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ka Nui tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Ka Nui lands some shots froms side control.
Vance can't do much from the bottom here.
Vance is looking for a sweep.
Ka Nui tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ka Nui has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vance tries to bench press Ka Nui off him but Ka Nui keeps the position.
Ka Nui works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Ka Nui has an Americana. Vance didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Ka Nui is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Ka Nui hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Ikaika Ka Nui!
