PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dalton Dudley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Borga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dalton Dudley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sam Borga!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dudley displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Borga.
Borga misses with a takedown
and Dudley counters with a left and a right that stings Borga.
Borga keeps the fight on the outside.
Dudley shoots in and drives through. Borga sprawls well.
Borga throws a solid leg kick but Dudley takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Borga.
Dudley is looking for a counter combo.

Borga fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dudley to the ground. Borga is now in Dudley's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dudley trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Borga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dudley swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Borga trying to control the position from guard on top but Dudley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Borga is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Dudley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

It looks like Borga might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Dudley looks to land a body kick but Borga moved away.

Borga moves into range and clinches up with Dudley.
Borga is struggling to control the position.
Dudley is pressed up against the cage. Borga has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dudley down to the mat. Dudley avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Dalton Dudley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Borga.
Borga shoots for a double leg takedown but Dudley sprawls well. He's pushed Borga's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Borga fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dudley, pushing him back against the cage.

Borga tries to score a body lock takedown but Dudley shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Borga drags the fight down to the ground.
Borga preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dudley's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Dudley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Dudley keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Borga's head.
Dudley missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Dudley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Borga on the ground.

Dudley has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Borga wants to get back to his feet but Dudley is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Borga is on top in guard.

Dudley doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Borga pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dudley is keeping the position for now.
Borga postures up and lands a big shot to Dudley's brow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Borga is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Borga lands a couple of elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Borga dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Dudley swats away the attempt to clinch by Borga.

Dudley closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Borga to the mat! Borga manages to get full guard.
Borga has control of Dudley's left arm, preventing Dudley from doing any damage.

Borga looking for a guillotine here but Dudley defends easily.

Borga has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Dudley doesn't defend quickly enough and Borga has managed to lock this one up! Can Dudley escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Borga on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Sam Borga!
Sam Borga seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
