The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan throws an overhand right that lands on Kovalev's shoulder, as Kovalev tries to avoid the shot.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Morgan.
Kovalev is looking to counter punch.
Kovalev scores with a decent looking hook.
We've been told by Kovalev's head coaches at The Shark Tank that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Morgan looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Vladimir Kovalev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kovalev throws a hook but Morgan blocks it.
Kovalev tries to clinch up but Morgan circles away and keeps his distance.
Morgan throws out a counter right but Kovalev avoids it with no problem.
Morgan walks into a straight right hand from Kovalev.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morgan takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Kovalev blocks the body kick.
Kovalev swings for the body but Morgan moves out of range.
Morgan swats away the attempt to clinch by Kovalev.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Morgan misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Kovalev counters with a crisp right hand that drops Morgan! Kovalev lets Morgan back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Morgan is rocked!
Morgan glances at the clock... BAM! Kovalev nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Morgan crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Morgan is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Vladimir Kovalev!
