Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris White! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edgars Simans! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simans shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has White pinned against the cage. White gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. White looks to throw the jab but Simans is out of range. Edgars Simans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. White looks to land a body kick but Simans moved away. White displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Simans. White misses with a series of wild punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. White misses with a double jab
and Simans holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Simans working White over with knees to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. White swings away with an uppercut that misses.
White is trying to drag Simans to the mat but Simans just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Simans throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Simans throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by White. Simans closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. White has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Simans after a bit of a struggle. White misses with a punch on the inside.

Simans shoots for a takedown but White saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. White tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Simans manages to circle out of the way. Chris White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edgars Simans. Simans closes the distance and clinches up with White, looking for a takedown. Simans pushes White against the cage but White circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. White feinted with a counter takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from White. No joy for Simans on that attempt. Simans tries a head kick but it misses.
Simans shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. White gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. White manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! White works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. White distracts Simans with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. White throws a big right hand that misses. White tries to free his leg and advance position but Simans is retaining full guard. Simans pulls White in close to prevent any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Chris White will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
White tries to clinch but Simans moves out of range. Simans tries to counter with a clinch but White shakes him off and moves away. A head kick from Simans lands but White takes it in his stride. Simans shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says White as he avoids it easily. White will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Simans is looking for the big counter here. Simans shoots in but no luck this time. White swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Simans counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A momentary lapse in concentration from White enables Simans to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. White manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Simans trying to control the position from guard on top but White is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Simans content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simans wants to stand but White has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Simans slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Simans slips nicely into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Simans trying to control from half guard but White is working away. White is in trouble now - Simans has advanced to mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Simans thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Edgars Simans showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

White is looking to work some ground and pound but Simans has wrist control. Simans working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from White. Simans wants to stand up but White is controlling him. White trying to control the position from guard on top but Simans is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Simans manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. White manages to get himself to full guard.

White is keeping the position for now. Simans stands up and waves to White to follow him. Simans misses with a takedown attempt and White counters with a series of strikes. Simans will be more careful next time no doubt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Simans manages to get an easy takedown there - catching White on his heels. He'll look to pass White's guard now, I'm sure. White has a closed guard, preventing Simans from standing up. Simans stays in close to White's body and controls the position. Simans looking to pass the guard. Simans lands a couple of elbows. Edgars Simans really dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
White leaves Simans with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Simans swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
White seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Simans is trying hard to land a takedown here. White sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. White gets caught napping as Simans dives in and scores a takedown. White manages to retain guard. Simans's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Simans throws a right and a left that both miss. White tries to counter with a takedown but Simans is quick to defend against it. Simans closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. White makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

That's going to take a lot out of Edgars Simans. Simans has a takedown stuffed. White feinted with a counter takedown. Simans shoots in for a takedown but White shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. White shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Simans eats them both and turns towards White to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Simans shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as White sprawls well. White wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Simans gets slowly back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A big right from White misses. Simans shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with White but White pushes him off and we're back to square one. Simans tries to clinch but fails miserably and White counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Simans closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Simans tries to work over White's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. White is trying to drag Simans to the mat but Simans just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Simans cracks White with a nice body shot. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Simans drags the fight down to the ground.
White looking to sit in guard and control but Simans gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Chris White had his way with Edgars Simans in that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Simans throws a sloppy head kick and White moves out of range easily. Simans throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. As Simans looks to move away, White throws a big counter combo but Simans just gets out of the way. Nice sprawl there from White as Simans shoots in. Simans tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. White manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. The fight moves into the clinch position. White is trying to break the clinch but Simans has him pressed against the cage. White has Simans pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Simans manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. White wants to take the fight to the mat but Simans manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Edgars Simans seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. White is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Simans leaning against his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round. Simans gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Simans wants to control from the top but White keeps moving. Simans looking to pass the guard. Simans seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. White is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Simans is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Simans not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Simans pushes down on White's leg and manages to get into half guard. Simans escapes and gets back to his feet. White throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Simans shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. White attempts a counter takedown but Simans avoids it well and moves away. Simans shoots in but no luck this time.
And that's the end of the fight! Edgars Simans comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Simans has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
