Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leon Cotton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leon Cotton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Shaw! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shaw throws a predictable looking body shot
and Cotton counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Shaw throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Cotton fails to land the takedown. Cotton closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shaw circles away. Shaw let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Cotton avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Cotton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cotton ducks under a wild hook from Shaw. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cotton checks a low kick from Shaw. Shaw leaves Cotton with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leon Cotton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shaw throws the kick towards the body but Cotton avoids it. Cotton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cotton tries for a kimura but Shaw is defending well. Cotton throws an elbow but Shaw slips to the side and avoids it well. Cotton working the ground and pound. Cotton scores with a couple of short elbows. Cotton works to advance to full mount. Shaw defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Cotton jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Shaw manages to avoid the submission attempt. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cotton controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cotton working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Cotton tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Cotton fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Cotton working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Cotton creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Shaw really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cotton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shaw prevents Cotton from moving into mount. Cotton misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Cotton working away. Cotton throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Shaw seems a little lost for a moment, as Cotton dominates the positioning. Shaw tries to improve position but can't. Cotton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Cotton tries to score with some ground and pound. Shaw controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Cotton looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cotton is staying tight to Shaw's torso, preventing him from escaping. Cotton seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shaw for as long as he can get away with. Shaw on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Shaw tries to bench press Cotton off him but Cotton keeps the position. Cotton working the body and head with strikes. Cotton taking a breather here. Shaw is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Leon Cotton dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Shaw uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cotton. Shaw steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. Leon Cotton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A head kick misses from Shaw. Cotton scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Shaw tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Cotton manages to move to mount!
Cotton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shaw can do to turn this around? Cotton content just to control the position here. Shaw takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Cotton scoring with strikes but Shaw is staying in there. Cotton scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Shaw?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cotton landing strikes from the mount. Cotton looking to secure an arm triangle but Shaw defends it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cotton looking to control and managing it successfully. Leon Cotton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Shaw in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Cotton punishing his opponent with strikes. Cotton sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Cotton working the ground and pound effectively.
Cotton swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
