Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Daker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viorel Furnica (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daker comes to the cage accompanied by My Name is John Daker. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Daker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Viorel Furnica!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Daker wants to take the fight to the mat but Furnica manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Furnica manages to pull guard.
Furnica is pulling down on Daker's head to control his posture.
Furnica is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Daker connects with a couple of short punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Furnica has Daker pulled in close to control his posture.
Daker stops Furnica from standing up.

Furnica working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Daker doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Daker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Daker wants to control from the top but Furnica keeps moving.
Daker tries to stand but Furnica is controlling from the bottom.
Furnica is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Furnica wants to stand up but Daker is controlling him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

and Furnica counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Furnica turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Furnica manages to end up in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Daker regains half guard.
Daker is trying to control but can't.
Daker is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Furnica is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Daker desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Daker is looking to improve his position.
Furnica seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Daker swinging wildly here.

Furnica pushes Daker up against the cage in a clinch.
Daker definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The referee is keeping an eye on Furnica - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Furnica pulls guard successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Daker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Furnica has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Daker has managed to get both his arms back between Furnica's legs - danger averted.
Daker tries to stand but Furnica is controlling from the bottom.
Daker in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Furnica is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Our spies down at at Cozad Amsterdam inform us that Furnica has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Daker's corner is telling him to maintain position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Viorel Furnica dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Furnica closes the distance and clinches up with Daker, looking for a takedown. Furnica pushes Daker against the cage but Daker circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Daker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Furnica closes the distance and clinches.
Furnica has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Daker gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Daker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Furnica swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Daker prevents Furnica from getting back to his feet.
Daker has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Furnica bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Daker's guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Daker holds on and takes a little breather.
Daker avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Furnica is looking to work some ground and pound but Daker has wrist control.
Furnica wants to stand but Daker has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Daker seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Furnica chips away with some ground and pound.
Furnica is looking to advance position but Daker has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Daker is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Daker prevents Furnica from getting the reversal.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Daker trying to control but Furnica is having none of it.
Furnica is trying to escape the mount.
Furnica sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Daker working Furnica over with strikes.
The fighters are battling for position here. Furnica manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Daker wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Furnica's closed guard. He's half up but Furnica has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Furnica pivots and extends the arm, Daker falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Furnica! Well done that man!
