The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Impala closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Impala escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gill shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Impala as he avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Impala swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gill shoots in looking for a takedown but Impala manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gill's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

It looked like Gill was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Impala postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Gill to stand up.
Gill drops his hands momentarily and Impala takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Impala throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Gill crashing down! Gill tries to stagger back to his feet but Impala just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Gill asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gunnar Impala!
An out of breath Gunnar Impala thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
