The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Machado misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Jesus throws a counter combo. Jesus displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Machado. Machado sets himself, and Jesus steps forward looking for the clinch! Machado avoids it this time. Jesus gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Machado has one foot on Jesus's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Jesus has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Marcos Machado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jesus wants to clinch up but Machado keeps it at a distance.
