Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sol Farrell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lebroke James! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Chris Dean and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James rushes Farrell and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Farrell is looking to take this one to the mat. James manages to break the clinch.
James tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Farrell thinks about countering with a head kick. James scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Farrell is looking to reverse the position. James lands a few punches from side control. Farrell parries the strikes from James easily there. James is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Farrell to escape.
James sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Farrell is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Farrell can't do much from the bottom here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. James trying to control the action but Farrell is working from the bottom. Farrell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! James has hold of Farrell's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Farrell seems comfortable defending it but James has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Farrell is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Farrell is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but James couldn't care less - he's delighted!
