Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phill Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Mordino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brooks might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Cult Of Personailty. Phill Brooks could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Victor Mordino's chin.

With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Victor Mordino!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mordino fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Brooks sprawls well initially but Mordino persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Brooks is staying active underneath Mordino, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mordino perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mordino is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mordino wants to work for an arm triangle but Brooks is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Mordino drops back, looking for a kneebar! Brooks looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Brooks looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Brooks!

Mordino is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Brooks lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mordino throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Brooks was covering up waiting for the punch and Mordino finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Brooks manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Mordino's coach down at Harambe Remembrance Hall was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Mordino's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Mordino has hold of one of Brooks's legs. Brooks is fighting the takedown attempt but Mordino gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Brooks kicks Mordino off and gets to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Mordino feints and as Brooks raises his hands in defense, Mordino changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mordino wants to control from the top but Brooks keeps moving.

Mordino content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Brooks has locked up a guillotine! Brooks's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Mordino is holding on here and Brooks must be using up a lot of energy. Mordino has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Brooks gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Phill Brooks seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
