Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ichiro Ippo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rey Hanibal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rey Hanibal was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ichiro Ippo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rey Hanibal! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ippo moves out of range of the strikes. Hanibal takes one to the chin there. Ippo gets a clinch. A head punch on the inside from Hanibal fails to land. Ippo prevents Hanibal from breaking the clinch. Hanibal throws a head punch that misses. Hanibal gets control of Ippo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hanibal will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Hanibal looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ippo controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Ippo distracts Hanibal with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ippo landing with the ground and pound. Ippo lands a couple of digs. Ippo is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ippo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Ippo landing some decent shots from guard. Ippo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ippo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ippo lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Ippo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Ippo lands with a nice body punch. Hanibal looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Ippo closes the distance and clinches. Hanibal scores with a nice hook to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ippo blocking some punches.
Hanibal has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ippo uses from the top position. Ippo is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Further stalling from Ippo.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ippo passes Hanibal's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Ippo sitting and controlling from the half guard. Hanibal is trying to control but can't.
Ippo content to control rather than advance. Hanibal has hold of Ippo's hands but Ippo slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hanibal on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ichiro Ippo dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Hanibal throws a lazy right hand but Ippo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Ippo connects with a body shot that sends Hanibal's belly button to the back. Hanibal takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Ippo moves away from the strike by Hanibal. Hanibal scores with a jab. Ippo acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Ippo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hanibal lands a jab to the nose. A jab from Ippo does it's job there. The fight moves into the clinch position. Hanibal is looking to break free of the clinch but Ippo has double underhooks. Hanibal is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Ippo lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hanibal looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. A battle for position here, against the ropes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ippo tries to land knees in the clinch but Hanibal avoids the damage to the body. Hanibal swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Ippo cracks Hanibal with a nice body shot. Hanibal has had enough of the clinch but Ippo keeps him there for the moment. Ippo has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hanibal regains guard immediately. Ippo controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Hanibal is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ippo is aware though and is defending well. Hanibal is breathing heavily. Ippo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Ippo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ippo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hanibal for as long as he can get away with. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. A telegraphed right hand from Hanibal misses the target. Ippo gets caught flat footed, as Hanibal shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Ippo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hanibal manages to get himself to full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ippo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ippo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hanibal can do to turn this around?
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ippo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Ippo looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Ippo controlling from the top position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hanibal jabbing away but nothing is landing. Hanibal clinches. Ippo stalling against the ropes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Ichiro Ippo will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Hanibal tries to stand but Ippo is controlling from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ippo has Hanibal pulled in close to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hanibal trying to control but Ippo is working from the bottom. Hanibal wants to stand but Ippo has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Ippo pulls Hanibal in close to prevent any damage. Hanibal preventing the sweep.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Hanibal tries to keep at a distance but Ippo has taken the fight into the clinch. Ippo blocks the elbow strike.

Ippo can't fight it off and eventually Hanibal manages to take the fight to the floor. Ippo looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Ippo pushes Hanibal off and scrambles back to his feet.
Hanibal takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. A telegraphed right hand from Hanibal misses the target. Hanibal misses with a wild body shot. Ippo tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Hanibal manages to circle out of the way. Hanibal stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Ippo slips a straight right by Hanibal. Ippo was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Ippo just misses with a punch to the body.

and Ippo counters with a series of strikes. Hanibal will be more careful next time no doubt. Ippo jabs Hanibal right on the nose. Hanibal blinks but takes it well. Ichiro Ippo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hanibal might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ippo clinches up against the ropes. Ichiro Ippo has scored more points in the clinch so far. Hanibal tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Ippo lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Hanibal tries a body shot but Ippo blocks it.
Hanibal misses with a punch on the inside.
Hanibal tries to land knees in the clinch but Ippo avoids the damage to the body. Ippo tightens his grip and picks Hanibal up, before dumping him to the ground. Hanibal manages to land in guard. Ippo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Ippo continues to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rey Hanibal has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
And that's the end of the fight! Ichiro Ippo showed his dominance in that final round. Well Ippo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
