Sanchez comes into the arena with Where is My Mind? by Pixies blaring out of the sound system. Callum Welsh will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Callum Welsh!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Welsh misses with a kick to the body.
Welsh keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sanchez.
Sanchez catches Welsh with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Welsh throws a push kick but Sanchez slaps the foot to one side.
Welsh throws a low kick, looking for Sanchez's leg but Sanchez calmly moves out of range.

Sanchez gets the takedown into side control.

Welsh is looking for a sweep.
Welsh dodges the ground and pound from Sanchez.
Welsh is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Sanchez is looking to take a break and control but Welsh is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Welsh tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Welsh takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Sanchez lands a strong strike to the head of Welsh. That's dazed him! Sanchez looking to finish here. Welsh is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Sanchez lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Sanchez!
