Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Birchack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johny Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johny Cage has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Anthony Birchack's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anthony Birchack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johny Cage!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Birchack throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Birchack misses with a takedown
and Cage counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Birchack takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Birchack with a lazy takedown attempt
and Cage counters with a nice uppercut.
Cage slaps away a takedown attempt from Birchack, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anthony Birchack. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Birchack shoots in looking for a takedown. Cage tries to sprawl out of it but Birchack keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cage manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Cage counters with a stiff right hand.

Birchack misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Birchack shoots in looking for a takedown. Cage tries to sprawl out of it but Birchack keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cage manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A left lands for Cage.
Cage scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Birchack doesn't seem bothered though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cage throws a nice looking combination but Birchack bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Birchack attempts a counter takedown but Cage avoids it well and moves away.
Cage connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Birchack momentarily.
Johny Cage is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cage lands with an overhand left.
Birchack misses with a takedown attempt
and Cage counters with a straight right hand.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cage, as that shot connected.
Cage lands with a nice body punch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Birchack takes a jab right on the kisser.
A left lands for Cage.
Birchack doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Cage counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Cage displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Birchack.
Cage staying out of range there.
Birchack tries for a takedown but Cage circles away easily
and Cage counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Some wild striking there from Cage.
Cage uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Birchack.

Birchack shoots and misses
and Cage counters with a stiff right hand.
Birchack tries for a takedown but Cage sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Birchack shoots in and drives through. Cage sprawls well.
Cage now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Birchack shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Cage cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cage scores with a punch to the head.
Birchack shoots in for a double leg but Cage sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Birchack misses with a takedown
and Cage counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Cage keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Birchack.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johny Cage dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Birchack dives in and grabs Cage's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cage pushes down on Birchack's head and hops out.
Birchack shoots and misses
and Cage counters with a nice uppercut.
Nice jab there from Cage.

Birchack closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Still in half guard, Birchack seems content to control.
Cage avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Birchack.
Birchack not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cage wants to get back to his feet.
Cage is trying to control but can't.

Birchack trying to control the pace.
Birchack lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Cage tries to get to full guard but Birchack has control of the leg.
Birchack drops an elbow to the side of Cage's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Birchack not doing much here.
Cage is looking for a sweep. Birchack is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Birchack looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cage with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Birchack performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Cage has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Birchack shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Cage connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anthony Birchack. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Birchack doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Cage counters with a straight right hand.
Cage might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

and Cage counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Anthony Birchack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cage works the jab nicely.

Birchack manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cage on his heels. He'll look to pass Cage's guard now, I'm sure.

Birchack is looking to work some ground and pound but Cage has wrist control.
Birchack sitting in guard here, content to control.
Cage is looking to stand back up but Birchack counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Cage.
Birchack working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cage has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Birchack content to control rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Anthony Birchack will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Cage scores with a jab. Birchack acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Birchack shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Birchack was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Cage bucks up and tries to throw Birchack off but instead Birchack has got his back!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Birchack connects with a big shot to the side of Cage's head.
Cage really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Birchack. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Birchack somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Cage covering up well under a barage of strikes.
Birchack throwing sloppy strikes.
Cage grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Birchack is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Cage has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Birchack has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Cage taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Birchack doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Anthony Birchack!
