The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burns misses with a body shot
and Skrumbellos connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Skrumbellos keeps Burns at a distance using the push kick. Burns looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Skrumbellos misses with a hook. Skrumbellos bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Burns's head. Nice defenses there by Skrumbellos . Burns throws a good cross that connects.
It looks like Devin Skrumbellos has been cut. Skrumbellos lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Burns at a distance.
Skrumbellos slips a jab and a cross from Burns.
Skrumbellos looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. A telegraphed right hand from Burns misses the target. It seemed like Skrumbellos was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Burns misses with a straight right. Skrumbellos blocks a jab. Burns moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
It looks like Connor Mac Burns has been cut. Connor Mac Burns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Burns misses with a hook. Skrumbellos swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Burns. Burns with a body punch. A glancing blow.
That's one minute gone in the round. A decent looking cross lands there for Skrumbellos . Skrumbellos steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Burns. A big left from Burns misses. Burns blocks a jab. Skrumbellos throws a jab when Burns was well out of range. Burns misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Skrumbellos .
Skrumbellos is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Skrumbellos scores with a sloppy right hand. Burns should have avoided that one. Skrumbellos tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Burns was well out of range. Poor timing from Skrumbellos . Skrumbellos moves into range and connects with a jab. Skrumbellos lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Look low, kick high! Skrumbellos uses the oldest trick in the book to send Burns tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Skrumbellos is absolutely delighted - when Burns wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
