Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sammy Sammich! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
31 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Dantes! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dantes lands with a nice combination. Sammich backs away looking to recover. Marcus Dantes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dantes closes the distance but Sammich moves to the side and Sammich counters with a right hand to the body. Sammich has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Dantes closes the distance and clinches. Dantes is looking to break free of the clinch but Sammich has double underhooks. Sammich throws an elbow that misses.
Dantes blocks an elbow strike from Sammich.
A nice left hand lands by Sammich.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. A quick uppercut on the inside from Sammich. Dantes is looking to control Sammich's arms but Sammich gets an underhook and turns him. Now Dantes has his back to the cage. Dantes goes for a takedown in the clinch but Sammich prevents it.
Sammich misses with a body punch.
Sammich softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Sammich misses with a punch to the body.
Sammich cracks Dantes with a nice body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sammich throws a head punch that misses. Dantes drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dantes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dantes defending well as Sammich loads up on a big left hand. Sammich is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Dantes. Sammich misses with a head kick.
Dantes clinches. Dantes lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Dantes tries to stand and escape but Sammich actually recovers to full guard. Sammich has Dantes pulled in close to control his posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dantes won't allow Sammich to sweep him here. Sammich not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sammich has control of Dantes's left arm, preventing Dantes from doing any damage. Sammich is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dantes manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Sammich keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sammich lands a nice elbow. Sammich throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Dantes drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sammich pulls his leg out and moves away.
Sammy Sammich has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Dantes. Dantes drives through and clinches with Sammich against the cage.
Dantes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Dantes slips a jab from Sammich. Sammich circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dantes doesn't manage to clinch there - Sammich circles away.
Dantes takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Dantes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sammich circles away quickly and effectively. A little feinted left hand from Sammich on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Sammich misses the shot to the body. Sammich throws a sloppy head kick and Dantes moves out of range easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dantes forces Sammich back against the cage and clinches. A nice glancing elbow lands by Sammich. Sammich lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Dantes backwards. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sammich lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
It looks like Marcus Dantes has been cut. Sammich gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Dantes tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Sammich gets through Dantes's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Dantes blocking some punches.
Dantes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dantes blocks a jab. Dantes gets a clinch. Dantes has clasped his hands together around Sammich's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Dantes stands up and beckons Sammich to his feet. Dantes gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Sammich gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Dantes is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sammy Sammich! Sammy Sammich bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it. Marcus Dantes was interviewed post fight and said 'Fuck off.'.
