Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Max Rockatansky! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joy Rones! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rockatansky changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rones looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rockatansky misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Rockatansky postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rones can do anything to dispel that myth. Rockatansky trying to control the action but Rones is working from the bottom. The strikes coming from Rockatansky are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Rones tries to improve position but can't. Rockatansky working the body and head with strikes. Rockatansky in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Rockatansky misses with the ground and pound. Rockatansky scoring with punches and elbows. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rones managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Rockatansky.
Rones is not content to let Rockatansky control the position. Rockatansky cracks Rones with a big right hand but Rones just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
That's one minute gone in the round. Check out the look on Rockatansky's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Rones bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Rockatansky is controlling Rones's posture. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Rockatansky looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rones is one step ahead there. Rockatansky manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rones manages to get himself to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rones pulls Rockatansky in close to his closed guard and prevents Rockatansky from doing any damage or advancing position. Rockatansky is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Rockatansky throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Rockatansky chips away with some ground and pound. Rockatansky distracts Rones with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Rockatansky controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Rones is trying to control the position but Rockatansky postures up. Rockatansky throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rockatansky landing with the ground and pound. Rockatansky has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rockatansky missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Rones has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at LOD: Legion's PIT Fight Club. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Rockatansky stops Rones from standing up. Rones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Rockatansky tries to free his leg and advance position but Rones is retaining full guard. Rones has momentary wrist control but Rockatansky slips an elbow through the middle. Rockatansky loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Rones trying to keep a closed guard but Rockatansky is proving a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rockatansky with a flurry of punches that miss. Rones is trying to control the position but Rockatansky postures up. Rockatansky throwing strikes but missing. Rockatansky wants to pass the guard but Rones is keeping the position. Rockatansky wants to control from the top but Rones keeps moving.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Rockatansky fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rones manages to avoid it. Rones's corner calls for a 1-2. Rones obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Rones scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Rones throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Rones cracks a nice hook into Rockatansky's ribs. Rockatansky looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Rones throws a hook to the side of Rockatansky's head but Rockatansky sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. This has been an exciting period of action! Rockatansky fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rones manages to avoid it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Max Rockatansky dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Rockatansky takes a swing at Rones's ribcage but misses. Rockatansky takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Rockatansky throws a hook but Rones blocks it. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Rones! But no joy. Rockatansky lands a body shot.
Rockatansky fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rones avoids it really well and circles away. A countering left hand to the body from Rones misses. Rones keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rockatansky tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rones was well out of range. Poor timing from Rockatansky. Rockatansky stuns Rones with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Rones takes a body punch but keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rockatansky walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Rockatansky throws a series of punches but Rones moves out of range. Rones lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Rockatansky misses with a body shot.
Rockatansky fails to land the takedown. Rones let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Joy Rones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rockatansky throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Rockatansky is rocked! BAM! Rones delivers a spinning backfist that drops Rockatansky like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!
