Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Umberto Grena!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kei Noguchi!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Noguchi clinches with his opponent.
Noguchi is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Grena is defending well.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Noguchi.

Grena breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Noguchi has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Grena is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Grena throws a head kick that Noguchi semi-blocks.


It looks like Kei Noguchi has been cut.
Noguchi dives in for a single leg takedown but Grena sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Grena fails to land the takedown.
Noguchi misses with the combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Noguchi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

We've been hearing reports that Grena has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Grena gets to his feet - Noguchi follows without any prompting.
Noguchi doesn't manage to clinch there - Grena circles away.
Grena is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Noguchi misses with a takedown
and Grena counters with a stiff right hand.
Noguchi throws a right and a left that both miss.
Grena defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Noguchi.

Grena rushes Noguchi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Grena is trying to drag Noguchi to the mat but Noguchi just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Grena breaks from the clinch.
The fighters circling - Noguchi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Grena half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Grena misses with a head kick.

Noguchi tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Grena connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Grena pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Noguchi back to the cage. Grena follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Grena leaves Noguchi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Noguchi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Noguchi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Grena manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Noguchi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Grena but Grena pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Noguchi tries to keep at a distance but Grena has taken the fight into the clinch.

Noguchi won't allow Grena to get back to his feet.
Grena wants to improve his position but instead Noguchi has moved into half guard.

Noguchi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Noguchi stops Grena from getting back to his feet.

Grena tries to kick Noguchi off but Noguchi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Noguchi swings around for an armbar but Grena sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Noguchi's guard.
Grena lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Grena stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Noguchi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Grena wants to control from the top but Noguchi keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Noguchi is on top in guard.

Noguchi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Grena manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Noguchi has Grena in his guard.

Noguchi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Grena's guard.

Grena has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Noguchi is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Grena escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Grena throws a series of punches but Noguchi avoids them all with ease.

As Noguchi looks to move away, Grena throws a big counter combo but Noguchi just gets out of the way.
