PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ignacio Mcfarland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alan Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson looks to land a combination but Mcfarland avoids it well.
Nelson lands with a kick to the temple. Mcfarland shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

and Mcfarland moves into the clinch.
Nelson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mcfarland fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Ignacio Mcfarland has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Nelson.

Nelson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mcfarland is nestled in close to Nelson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Mcfarland has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mcfarland connects with a nice short shot to Nelson's temple.

Nelson is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Mcfarland dives into side control.

Mcfarland is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Mcfarland cracks Nelson with an elbow. That is naaassty.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Mcfarland.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mcfarland decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nelson to his feet.
Alan Nelson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mcfarland changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nelson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Nelson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mcfarland to the ground. Nelson is now in Mcfarland's guard.

Mcfarland has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Nelson has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Mcfarland gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Nelson regains guard.
Nelson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Mcfarland manages to pass to side control.

Nelson misses with a takedown attempt

and Mcfarland holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nelson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Still in half guard, Mcfarland seems content to control.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mcfarland lands a nice short elbow.

Mcfarland looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mcfarland, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
