0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Duke Murdock! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murdock moves into range and clinches up with Brown. Brown tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Murdock smiles and moves away.
Nice takedown defense from Murdock. No joy for Brown on that attempt. Murdock scores with a nice head shot. Murdock defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Brown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him. Murdock throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Murdock clobbers Brown with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Brown fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Murdock lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Murdock has eaten all the pies! Brown shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Murdock pinned against the cage. Murdock gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Brown shoots in for a double leg but Murdock sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. This has been an exciting period of action! Murdock takes the fight into the clinch. Brown blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Murdock wants to get back to striking at distance but Brown won't allow it.
Brown is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Murdock is defending well. Brown wants to break free but Murdock has control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murdock taking a breather. Brown goes for a takedown in the clinch but Murdock prevents it.
Murdock can't find room to land a body shot as Brown controls the action.
Brown jumps guard but Murdock turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Murdock is defending well against a takedown attempt. Murdock lands with a short shot to the head. Murdock tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Brown has picked Murdock up - he's going for a ride! Brown dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Brown is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Murdock can do anything to dispel that myth. Brown not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Brown seems to be looking for submissions.
Brown is working for a kimura but Murdock is defending it quite comfortably.
Murdock really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brown. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. This has been an exciting period of action! Murdock trying to get back to full guard but Brown takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
