0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cro Cop! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cop throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Emelianenko. A head kick misses from Cop. Emelianenko closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cop circles away. Cop throws a head kick that misses. Emelianenko scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Emelianenko tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Emelianenko scores with punches from side control. Cop wants to get back to his feet. Emelianenko goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cop has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Emelianenko but great work by Cop.
That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko manages to get back to half guard. Emelianenko might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Emelianenko tries to roll over but Cop keeps him under control. That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Cop prevents Emelianenko from improving his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cop wants to stand but Emelianenko has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Emelianenko manages to get to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Emelianenko avoids the head kick by Cop.
Emelianenko shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cop pinned against the cage. Cop gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Emelianenko shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for King Emelianenko. That's going to take a lot out of him. Emelianenko is breathing heavily. Cop misses with a head kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Cop lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Emelianenko avoids the head kick by Cop.
Cop connects with a high kick. Cop throws a sloppy head kick and Emelianenko moves out of range easily. Cop throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Cop connects with a high kick. Cop misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Horrible takedown by Emelianenko or perhaps it was just good defense by Cop which made him look bad. Emelianenko fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. A head kick from Cop lands but Emelianenko takes it in his stride. Cop tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Emelianenko fails with a takedown attempt from distance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that King Emelianenko will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Emelianenko stands and throws Cop's legs to the side, diving into side control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cop is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Cop prevents Emelianenko from moving into mount. Emelianenko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cop keeps working. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cop can do anything to dispel that myth. Cop prevents Emelianenko from improving position. Emelianenko has hold of Cop's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Cop tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Emelianenko cranks the arm and Cop screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Cop, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
