PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roni Draymond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Naya Shinoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shinoki is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: wadiako. Naya Shinoki will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roni Draymond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Naya Shinoki !
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shinoki shoots in looking for a takedown. Draymond tries to sprawl out of it but Shinoki keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Draymond manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Shinoki gets a double leg takedown into Draymond's guard.
Draymond might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Draymond wants to sweep but no luck.
Shinoki cracks Draymond with a solid left hand.
Draymond pulls Shinoki in close to prevent any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shinoki keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Draymond's head.
Shinoki 's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Let's hope that Shinoki has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Shinoki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Shinoki keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Draymond's head.

Shinoki cracks Draymond with a solid left hand.
Draymond wants to stand but Shinoki is controlling the position.
Draymond is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Shinoki lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Shinoki is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Draymond has momentary wrist control but Shinoki slips an elbow through the middle.

Shinoki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Shinoki stops Draymond from standing up.
Draymond is looking to stand back up but Shinoki counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Draymond.
Draymond is looking to control Shinoki 's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Draymond avoid being mounted?

Shinoki is working for a kimura but Draymond is defending it quite comfortably.
Shinoki is taking a breather. Draymond says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Draymond won't allow Shinoki to pass to mount.
Draymond is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Iron Fist Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Draymond is trying to stand.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shinoki is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Draymond is looking to escape.

Shinoki is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Draymond doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shinoki .
Draymond is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Shinoki jumps into side control!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Draymond is looking for a sweep.
Shinoki lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Draymond down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Naya Shinoki dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Draymond has hold of Shinoki 's hands but Shinoki slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Shinoki has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Shinoki working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Draymond wants to improve his position but Shinoki is controlling well.

Naya Shinoki has got the better of the ground game so far.
Shinoki is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Shinoki is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Draymond tries to kick Shinoki off but Shinoki keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Draymond is looking for a sweep. Shinoki is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The adventures of Shinoki the control monster continue. Boring.
Draymond is trying to maintain the position but Shinoki is very close to passing his half guard.
Shinoki is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Draymond knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shinoki on the ground.

Shinoki wants to finish this one by submission but Draymond is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Shinoki .
BOOM! Shinoki connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Draymond tries to improve his position but Shinoki has taken his back! Shinoki has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Draymond tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Shinoki pushes Draymond away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Naya Shinoki !
