Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Earnest Snider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DJ Shaw has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Earnest Snider! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, DJ Shaw! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Snider clinches with his opponent.
Snider jumps into guard, dragging Shaw to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Snider is controlling Shaw's posture. Snider looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Snider keeping moving, preventing Shaw from controlling successfully. Snider manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shaw manages to get himself to full guard.
Shaw wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Snider is now in half guard. Snider is working for a submission of some sort.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Snider content to control rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Snider stands up and beckons Shaw to join him on the feet. A punch combination from Shaw misses. Shaw looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Shaw fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Snider sprawls well initially but Shaw persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Snider manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Shaw keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Snider tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Shaw avoids it. Shaw trying to stall but Snider improves his position.
Shaw has clasped his hands together around Snider's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Snider explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Shaw looks winded!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Snider throws a low kick, looking for Shaw's leg but Shaw calmly moves out of range. No joy there for Shaw, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jab from Snider. Shaw closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Snider did well to prevent Shaw getting side control. Snider kicks Shaw off and gets back to his feet. Snider gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Snider slowing the pace effectively. Snider pulls guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Snider holds on and takes a little breather. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Snider has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Snider is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Snider working the head and body with strikes. Snider gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Shaw avoids a kick to the body.
Snider sets himself, and Shaw steps forward looking for the clinch! Snider avoids it this time. Shaw is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Snider moves into the clinch successfully.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Snider. Snider jumps guard.
Snider has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Shaw has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Snider manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Snider pushes Shaw off and scrambles back to his feet.
Snider lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Snider closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Snider in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Snider has hold of Shaw's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Shaw seems comfortable defending it but Snider has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Shaw is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Shaw is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Snider couldn't care less - he's delighted!
