The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gates.

Gates throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bryan.
Gates just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromBryan.
No joy there for Gates, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gates misses with a wild combination.
Gates throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Bryan counters with a one-two to the body.

Gates gets tackled into the cage by Bryan. Bryan maintains the clinch.
Bryan tries to score a body lock takedown but Gates shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Gates gets underhooks to prevent Bryan's takedown attempt.
Bryan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Gates wants to break free but Bryan has control.

Gates breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bryan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gates avoids it really well and circles away.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bryan shoots in for a takedown but Gates shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Bryan closes the distance and pushes Gates back into the cage.

Bryan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
