Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Niall McCann! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sausage McGriddle! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Kavanagh and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCann scores with a three punch combo!
It looks like Sausage McGriddle has been cut. McGriddle closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McCann to the mat! McCann manages to get full guard. McCann looking to hit a scissor sweep but McGriddle is one step ahead there. McGriddle lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. McGriddle thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. McGriddle working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of McCann's head. McGriddle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. McGriddle wants to control from the top but McCann keeps moving. McCann looking to hit a scissor sweep but McGriddle is one step ahead there. McGriddle working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of McCann's head. McGriddle preventing the sweep. McGriddle stands up over McCann, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGriddle slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. McGriddle loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. McCann has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. McCann is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and McGriddle dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McCann is looking to regain half guard here but McGriddle keeps moving and retains side control. McGriddle is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. McCann is trying to escape and McGriddle transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and McCann is forced to tap! Nice work there by McGriddle! Very nice indeed!
