Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Benny Hays (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benny Hays! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Gonzalez! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hays moves in looking to clinch but Gonzalez pushes him off. Horrible takedown attempt by Hays or perhaps it was just good defense by Gonzalez, which made it look bad. Gonzalez lands a nice hook to Hays's body. Hays takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Gonzalez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Hays has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Gonzalez is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Gonzalez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hays really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Gonzalez rushes Hays and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Hays changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gonzalez fights it off and pushes away nicely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gonzalez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzalez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Gonzalez trying to control the position but Hays is working away. Hays lands a decent little punch to the body.
Hays wants to get back to his feet. Hays is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Gonzalez is looking to advance position but Hays won't allow it. Gonzalez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gonzalez slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hays is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gonzalez pulls his head out easily. Gonzalez is thwarting Hays's attempts to control the position. Gonzalez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Hays trying to hold on to Gonzalez's head to control him but Gonzalez postures up.
Hays wants to get back to full guard. Gonzalez not doing much here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hays tries to get to full guard but Gonzalez has control of the leg. Gonzalez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hays keeps working. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Gonzalez with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Gonzalez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hays circles away quickly and effectively. Gonzalez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Gonzalez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gonzalez gets a takedown into half guard. Gonzalez performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez throwing shots but Hays is blocking nicely. Gonzalez tries to stand but can't do so whilst Hays controls his leg. Hays is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hays trying to control but Gonzalez postures up.
Hays looking for submissions off his back. Gonzalez stands up and beckons Hays to join him on the feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gonzalez throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Gonzalez darts in and clinches Hays up against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Gonzalez dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Hays is looking for a counter combo. The fight stays on the outside here - Hays looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Hays shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gonzalez as he avoids it easily. Gonzalez gets tackled into the cage by Hays. Hays maintains the clinch. Gonzalez jumps into guard, dragging Hays to the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gonzalez wants to sweep here but Hays controlling him for the moment. Gonzalez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hays wants to stand and escape but instead Gonzalez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Gonzalez trying to control the position from guard on top but Hays is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hays is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hays is trying to keep Gonzalez in close.
Gonzalez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Gonzalez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hays, up you get! Hays tries to clinch there but Gonzalez circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez closes the distance and pushes Hays back into the cage. Gonzalez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Alex Gonzalez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gonzalez throws a right and a left that both miss. Gonzalez shoots in and gets a takedown into Hays's guard. Gonzalez trying to control but Hays is working from the bottom. Hays is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gonzalez defends well. Hays avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Gonzalez won't allow Hays to sweep him here. Gonzalez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hays is keeping the position for now. Hays wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Hays throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Hays is looking for a triangle here but Gonzalez uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Hays tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gonzalez controlling the position easily from mount. Gonzalez looking to control but Hays is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Hays is desperately trying to improve his position but Gonzalez has a good base and remains in mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Hays is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position. Gonzalez is standing up, even though he is in mount. Gonzalez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Hays tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gonzalez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Hays tries to control but Gonzalez manages to take his back. Gonzalez has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hays has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hays tries to break free.

Alex Gonzalez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
A head kick misses from Gonzalez. Gonzalez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hays, pushing him back against the cage. Gonzalez is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Hays is squirming around, avoiding Gonzalez's attempts to control the action. Gonzalez is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Gonzalez avoids the attempt from Hays to control. Gonzalez misses with a head shot. Hays tries to get back to half guard but can't. Alex Gonzalez is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Hays tries to land knees in the clinch but Gonzalez avoids the damage to the body.
And that's the end of the fight! Alex Gonzalez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Gonzalez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
