Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kenneth Francis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Tucker! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tucker lands a really nice looking cross but Francis seems unphased.
Francis misses with a takedown attempt - Tucker sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Francis tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Tucker defends well and Francis ends up having to push Tucker into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Tucker drives through and clinches with Francis against the cage.
Tucker has Francis pushed against the cage. Francis blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Francis has Tucker pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Tucker manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenneth Francis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tucker lands a nice uppercut. Tucker lands with a left to the head. Tucker connects with a knee to the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Tucker creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. A short right from Tucker on the inside. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Tucker cracks Francis with a nice body shot. Francis is breathing heavily. Tucker dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Tucker gets through Francis's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tucker lands with a right to the head. Tucker lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Francis backwards. Francis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tucker is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. A quick uppercut on the inside from Tucker. Nice body punch from Tucker - that landed with a thud.
Tucker jerks Francis's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Francis drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Tucker goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Tucker because Francis was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Steve Tucker! In defeat, Kenneth Francis stepped up to the mic, saying 'Have a break, have a kit kat.'.
