Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Deck! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Denny Young! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Deck feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Young has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Young looking to sweep here. No luck so far. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Young holds on and takes a little breather. Deck looking to pass the guard. The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Young misses with a few strikes there.
Crunch! Young slams his shin into Deck's torso. A left and a right from Deck both land. Nice combination. Young doesn't succeed with the takedown and Deck counters with a straight right hand. Deck takes the fight into the clinch. Deck wants the takedown. Young is fighting it off but Deck persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Young's guard against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Young will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Young is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Deck is aware though and is defending well. Young looking to hit a scissor sweep but Deck is one step ahead there. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Deck is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Young is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Deck tries to get to full guard but Young has control of the leg. Deck is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Young scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Young is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Deck has hold of Young's hands but Young slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Young throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Young lands with a punch from half guard. Deck works his way to full guard. Good work. Young throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Young working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Young pushes down on Deck's leg and manages to get into half guard. Young looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Young thows a huge punch but Deck dodges it nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Deck keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Deck is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Young missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Nice strikes from Young there. Young throwing shots but Deck is blocking nicely. Young not landing any meaningful shots this time. Young looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Deck is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Young throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Denny Young will probably get the nod. That's time! Deck's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Young is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Deck trying to keep a closed guard but Young is proving a slippery customer.

Young drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Deck manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Young has Deck in his guard. Deck is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Young keeping moving, preventing Deck from controlling successfully. That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Deck knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Young on the ground. Young trying to control the position here.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Young lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Deck looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Young moves into range and clinches up with Deck.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Young is looking for a takedown. Young is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Young is looking to take this one to the mat. Young gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Deck is adopting a defensive guard. Deck looking to hit a scissor sweep but Young is one step ahead there. Deck trying to keep a closed guard but Young is proving a slippery customer.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Young postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Deck is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Young, into his guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Deck tries to clinch up but Young circles away and keeps his distance. Young gets in close and instigates a clinch. Deck lands a knee to the head.

Denny Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Young throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Young has closed the distance and engaged Deck in a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Young is trying to drag Deck to the mat but Deck just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Young breaks the clinch.
A low kick from Young misses and Deck counters with a left and a right that stings Young. Young darts in looking for a takedown but Deck gets double underhooks and turns Young into the cage. Deck takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Young tries to keep at a distance but Deck has taken the fight into the clinch. Deck stalling.

Deck gets a warning from the ref for wasting time. Young is fighting off a takedown attempt but Deck is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Young to the mat. Young regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Deck is looking to advance position but Young has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Deck tries to hold on but Young pushes him away. Deck is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Young postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Deck looks a forlorn figure.
Young thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Young with the ground and pound from mount. Young has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Deck squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Young lands a big shot there that rocks Deck but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Oh Deck is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Denny Young has got the better of the ground game so far. Deck is desperately trying to improve his position but Young has a good base and remains in mount. Deck seems to have got his legs back now. Young lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Young lands with some strikes. Deck regains half guard. Young not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Jason Deck has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Deck is trying to maintain the position but Young is very close to passing his half guard. Denny Young is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Young missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Denny Young. I've got Young winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
