Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edvard Grieg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owin Erl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grieg comes into the arena with In the Hall of the Mountain King blaring out of the sound system. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edvard Grieg! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Owin Erl! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, David Schapiro and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Erl clinches up against the cage. Erl has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Grieg after a bit of a struggle. Grieg lands a body shot in the clinch.
Erl tries to pull guard but Grieg forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Grieg pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Grieg lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. A head kick misses from Erl. Erl closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Erl looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Grieg gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Erl.
Edvard Grieg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Owin Erl. Grieg's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Erl tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Grieg manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Grieg thuds his shin into the meat of Erl's side. Erl closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Grieg's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Grieg wants to sweep here but Erl controlling him for the moment. Erl throwing strikes but missing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Erl is stalling in the full guard. Grieg bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Erl's guard. Grieg is working Erl over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Grieg being controlled here momentarily. Erl trying to control the position.

Grieg lands a couple of elbows. Grieg tries to free his leg and advance position but Erl is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Erl is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Erl is looking to stall here but Grieg recovers full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grieg tries to land a sweep but no joy. Erl passes Grieg's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Grieg slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Erl postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Grieg keeping moving, preventing Erl from controlling successfully.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Erl clinches up with Grieg and pushes him back against the cage. Grieg manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Edvard Grieg will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Erl throws a lazy head kick and Grieg counters with a nice low kick that buckles Erl's knee momentarily. Erl on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Erl throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Erl will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Grieg up against the cage. Grieg taking a breather. That's one minute gone in the round. Grieg is in close to Erl's body, working some short punches and elbows. Erl wants to stand up but Grieg is controlling him. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Grieg's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Grieg lands a couple of decent looking shots. Erl looking to control.

Edvard Grieg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The fighters are battling for position here. Erl manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Erl is looking to stand back up but Grieg counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Erl. Grieg is nestled in close to Erl, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Erl taking some punishment here, with Grieg in his half guard. Erl wants to control but Grieg is keeping busy.

I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Erl gets full guard. Grieg being controlled here momentarily. Grieg with a flurry of punches that miss. Grieg postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Erl is trying to control the position but Grieg postures up. Grieg won't allow Erl to sweep him here. Grieg might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Grieg lands a couple of elbows. Grieg feinted there with a counter leg kick. Grieg throws a body kick despite being completely out of range enabling Erl to counter with a crisp jab. Erl takes the fight into the clinch. Erl stalls. Grieg will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Erl up against the cage. Grieg doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Erl is defended easily by Grieg. Grieg lands a leg kick that knocks Erl off balance momentarily. Erl moves in looking to clinch but Grieg pushes him off. Grieg circles away from the clinch attempt.
Erl fails with the takedown and Grieg counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Edvard Grieg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Owin Erl. Grieg connects with a looping right hand.

Grieg will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Erl up against the cage. Owin Erl seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Stalling in the clinch from Grieg.

Grieg throws a sloppy head kick and Erl moves out of range easily. Erl unleashes a big counter combination but Grieg bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Edvard Grieg is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Erl closes the distance looking to clinch and Grieg counters with a slapping leg kick. Erl tries to clinch but Grieg is having none of it. Grieg is looking for a counter combo.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Erl wants to clinch. Owin Erl has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Owin Erl is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Grieg just misses with a punch to the body.

Grieg fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Grieg lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

And that's the end of the fight! Edvard Grieg showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Grieg, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
