Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Trent Cotchin! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Kuchar! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Andrew Berry and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kuchar thows a left - swing and a miss! Kuchar throws a poor cross that misses
and Kuchar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like Matt Kuchar has been cut. Cotchin cracks Kuchar with a right hand to the side of the head. Kuchar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kuchar throws the left hand but Cotchin avoids the punch easily. Cotchin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Kuchar bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Cotchin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cotchin throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kuchar. Kuchar misses the shot to the body. Kuchar throws a body punch but Cotchin moves out of range. Cotchin blocks a head kick by Kuchar.
Cotchin moves away from the strike by Kuchar. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kuchar wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Cotchin misses with a low kick as Kuchar jumps back. Kuchar misses with a wild combination.
Kuchar lands a leg kick that knocks Cotchin off balance momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kuchar takes a jab right on the kisser.
Cotchin staying out of range there. Cotchin works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Cotchin throws out a powerful jab.
Kuchar is rocked! Kuchar lands with an overhand left. Kuchar is still on wobbly legs! Can Cotchin finish him? Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Cotchin. Kuchar shrugs it off though. Kuchar seems to have recovered his senses. Kuchar misses the jab. Kuchar takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Nice defenses there by Cotchin. Cotchin scores with a sloppy right hand. Kuchar should have avoided that one. Jab by Kuchar. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kuchar slips under a jab. Kuchar walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Kuchar ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Cotchin misses with a right hand and Kuchar counters with a slapping leg kick. Kuchar throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Cotchin appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Cotchin defending well as Kuchar loads up on a big left hand. Kuchar slips a straight right by Cotchin.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cotchin takes a swing at Kuchar's ribcage but misses. Kuchar digs a good body shot into Cotchin's ribs. Kuchar scores with a slapping inside leg kick. The fighters circle momentarily. Cotchin darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
That has opened up Matt Kuchar's cut even more. Kuchar getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Cotchin takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Kuchar turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Some bone on bone action there as Cotchin checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. An attempted straight right counter from Cotchin misses the target. Kuchar slips a straight right by Cotchin. Kuchar loads up on a big right hand but Cotchin slips the punch. Trent Cotchin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cotchin slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Cotchin lands with a thumping leg kick.

Cotchin is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Cotchin looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Cotchin throws a lazy head kick and Kuchar counters with a good low kick that Cotchin was not able to check. Jab by Kuchar. Kuchar misses with a low kick as Cotchin jumps back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kuchar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cotchin, pushing him back against the cage. Kuchar lands with a short punch from the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kuchar creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Cotchin lands a nice shot to the body. Cotchin lands a shoulder strike. Cotchin lands a body punch in the clinch. Cotchin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kuchar is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Cotchin defending well as Kuchar loads up on a big left hand. Cotchin lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Kuchar throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cotchin sees it coming and avoids it easily. Kuchar scoring well with a low kick there.
Kuchar walks forward, straight into a front kick from Cotchin. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cotchin lands a slapping body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kuchar takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Kuchar steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cotchin. Kuchar steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. Cotchin connects with a right hand. Kuchar shakes it off. Cotchin throws a lazy uppercut
and Kuchar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Cotchin misses with a kick to the body.
Kuchar slips a straight right by Cotchin. Kuchar takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kuchar connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Cotchin moves away from the strike by Kuchar. Cotchin connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Kuchar swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Cotchin. Kuchar clinches with his opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cotchin tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Cotchin is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Cotchin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Kuchar connects with a looping right hand.
Kuchar tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Trent Cotchin will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Matt Kuchar's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Kuchar is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cotchin. Cotchin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kuchar stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Kuchar throws a lazy uppercut
and Cotchin counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Kuchar shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Cotchin misses with a head kick.
Cotchin is looking to chop away at Kuchar's legs. Decent striking displayed by Cotchin there. Kuchar throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Trent Cotchin is winning the standup battle so far. A slow jab from Cotchin misses its intended target. Good exchange - Cotchin coming out on top. A jab from Kuchar finds it's way through Cotchin's defenses. Kuchar throws a body shot but no joy. Cotchin drops his hands momentarily and Kuchar takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Cotchin cracks Kuchar with an open hand slap. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cotchin throws a right hand that Kuchar ducks under and follows up with a left that Kuchar also avoids with ease. Kuchar connects with a leg kick. Cotchin looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Cotchin throws an off balance right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kuchar ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Cotchin lands with a cross. Kuchar moves forwards but Cotchin connects with a nice, crisp jab. Kuchar's jab looks to have found its range, popping Cotchin under the eye. Nice straight punches there by Kuchar. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kuchar. A leg kick checked by Kuchar. Kuchar showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cotchin.
Cotchin lands with a nice body punch. Cotchin misses with a looping left. Kuchar connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Kuchar throws a nice outside leg kick. Kuchar takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cotchin's corner calls for a 1-2. Cotchin obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Kuchar lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kuchar checks a low kick from Cotchin. Kuchar lands a nice shot that snaps Cotchin's head back.
Cotchin misses with a looping left. Kuchar looks to land a body kick but Cotchin moved away. Cotchin swings widly with a right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Kuchar throws a hook but Cotchin blocks it. Kuchar goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Cotchin chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kuchar can pounce on him.
Kuchar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Cotchin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Cotchin with a body punch. A glancing blow. Cotchin lands with an uppercut that bounces Kuchar off the cage and back into range. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Cotchin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kuchar has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kuchar and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Cotchin throws a hook but Kuchar avoids it easily. Kuchar slips under a jab from Cotchin. Cotchin scores with a jab to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cotchin connects with the punch. Kuchar tries to work over Cotchin's front leg with a kick but Cotchin checks it. And Cotchin counters with a quick kick to the body but Kuchar blocks it. and Cotchin counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Kuchar! He's just covering up as Cotchin starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Trent Cotchin! Trent Cotchin retains his lightweight title! Our winner, Trent Cotchin, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
