Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Pepper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Lee! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pepper closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Pepper tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Pepper wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lee, who protects the arm well. Lee tries to escape but Pepper is in control. Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pepper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lee on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Pepper stands up and we're back to a striking position. Pepper scores a takedown into full mount! Pepper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pepper is working for a guillotine from mount but Lee frees his head quite easily.
Pepper is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee is working to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pepper is going olschool here, as he tries to force Lee to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lee shrugs it off. Lee is in all sorts of trouble here.
Lee sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Lee has hold of Pepper's hands but Pepper slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Lee is looking for a sweep. Pepper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Lee wants to get back to his feet.
Lee is looking to control Pepper's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lee avoid being mounted?
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pepper thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lee's head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lee is looking to improve his position.
Pepper is working for a kimura but Lee is defending it quite comfortably.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Pepper fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Lee works over Pepper's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Tommy Pepper has been cut. Lee connects with a crisp jab.
Pepper is rocked! Lee throws out a loose jab but Pepper uses good head movement to avoid it. Oh Pepper is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Pepper leaves his chin hanging out and Lee seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Pepper crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Bruce Lee!
